What are research-use-only peptides?
Research-use-only, often shortened to RUO, is a label used for products offered for laboratory or research purposes rather than for clinical use. It is not a statement that a product is approved, tested for human use, or suitable for a medical purpose.
Read the label in context
FDA’s RUO guidance specifically addresses in-vitro diagnostic products. The term is also common in research-supplier catalogs. That wider catalog usage does not give every item the same regulatory status. A product’s label, claims, intended use, and applicable law all matter.
What the WTB table records
WTB Peptides does not decide whether a product should be used for any purpose. The table records facts from vendor listings, such as package size, listed price, payment availability, and whether an independent COA is listed. A row is not an endorsement.
Questions that keep the distinction clear
- Does the vendor page make clinical or treatment claims?
- Does the listing identify a package and provide traceable documentation?
- Is the reader mistaking a research label for a safety or approval claim?
